How To: Configure Outlook Express 5.0.

This article provides information on how to configure Outlook Express email client.
Note: Before adding or modifying an email account, you will need to know the following information:

Your Suddenlink e-mail address and password
·
Incoming and Outgoing mail servers for your area
o Incoming Mail Server = pop.suddenlink.net
o Outgoing Mail Server = smtp.suddenlink.net

► Solution
1. Start Outlook Express 5.0
2. Click on the Tools menu and select Accounts. Click the Mail tab.
3. Open the Edit Account window
To edit an existing account, select it and click the Edit button
o
To create a new account, click the New button
o
4. If you choose to create a new account, this window will appear.
5. Set Account Type to POP and click OK. In the Edit Account window, fill in the correct values
for your account:
Account name: A label for this account, usually your e-mail address
o
Name: You name as you would like it to appear on messages you send
o
E-mail address: Your e-mail address
o
Account ID: The name portion of your e-mail address (everything before @suddenlink.net) all
o
lowercase
POP server: Type your incoming e-mail server
o
Save password: Check this box and type in your password if you would like Outlook
o
Express to remember it for you. Otherwise it will prompt you every time you check
your mail
SMTP server: Type your outgoing e-mail server
Make sure that "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" is checked.
o
6. Click OK to close the Edit Account window
7. Close the Accounts window to return to Outlook Express.
