How To: Disable Fire and Print Sharing in Windows XP

This article explains how to create a new mail rule in Outlook Express.
Note: Several types of mail rules can be configured in Outlook Express. This article
illustrates how to setup a mail rule that separates email into different email accounts.
► Solution
1. Launch Outlook Express.
2. On the Tools menu, select Message Rules, and then click Mail.
3. In the New Mail Rule dialog box, under 1. Select
the Conditions for your rule, click to choose the
conditions you want to control.
In this example, Where the To Line contains
people was selected.
4. Under 2. Select the Actions for your rule; click to choose the actions you want the rule to
perform.
In this example, Move it to the specified folder was selected.
Under 3. Rule Description (click on an underlined value to edit it): the new commands that
have been setup for this email rule display. If a new command can be edited, it will appear as a
link in underlined blue text.
5. Under 3. Rule Description (click on an underlined value to edit it): click the contains people
link.
6. In the Select People dialog box, enter the email account user name to be redirected to new
folder, and then click Add.
In this example, John Doe was entered.
7. To save the changes, click OK
8. In the New Mail Rule dialog box, under 3.Rule Description (click on an underlined value to
edit it): click the specified link.
9. In the Move dialog box, under Move the item(s) to the selected folder:, select the folder where
the redirected e-mails should go, and then click OK.
In this example, John Doe was selected.
Your message rule is now configured.
10. Click OK until you get back to the Outlook Express Window.
11. Compose a new test message, and send it to the email address that was just configured to
receive email in a separate folder.
12. To confirm that the program uses the new settings, close and restart Outlook Express.
Notes:
· When you click Send/Receive, any new message will go into the correct user folders.
Verify that this is working correctly.
· To setup additional email rules, repeat steps 1 through 12. Verify your new rule is
working each time one is created.
