How To: Utilizing Favorites in Internet Explorer

► Add a Web Page to Your Favorites
To add a favorite site to your list of favorites:
1. Visit the web site you want to add to Favorites
2. From the toolbar, click Favorites and select Add to Favorites
3. The Add Favorites window will appear
4. Internet Explorer will put a description in the NAME field however, you may want to type in a
unique name for the website.
5. Click OK to save
Tip Keyboard Shortcut: To add the current web page to your main list of favorites
press the CNTRL key and the letter D simultaneously
► Go to a Web Page on Your Favorites List
Once you have added your favorite web sites to your list, from the toolbar click FAVORITES and
click on the web site to visit.
► Alphabetize Your Favorites
1. Right click anywhere on the Favorites menu
2. From the sub menu, click Sort by Name to alphabetize
your folders and web pages
► Remove a Web Page from Your Favorites List
To remove a site from your Favorites list:
1.
From the Internet Explorer toolbar click Favorites
2.
Scroll to the website to highlight the link you want removed
3.
Right-click to activate the sub menu
4.
Select Delete from the Pop up menu
► Organize Your Favorite Web Pages in a New Folder
You can categorize individual web pages into folders as your list grows, for example a folder
titled Cruise Vacations could be used to collect vacation websites.
1.
Click Favorites from the toolbar
2.
Select Organize Favorites
3.
The Organize Favorites screen will appear
4.
Cick the Create Folder button
5.
Type in a name for the new folder and press Enter
6.
Select a website from the right panel
7.
Click the Move to Folder button
8.
Select the newly created folder
9.
When finished, click Close.
► Remove a Web Page from a Folder in the Favorites Lists
To remove a folder from your Favorites list:

From the Internet Explorer toolbar click Favorites
6.
Scroll to the folder and highlight the link you want removed
7.
Right-click to activate the sub menu
8.
Select Delete from the Pop up menu
Caution! When a folder is deleted all links to web pages stored within that folder are also
deleted.
