How To: View, Release, or Renew an IP Address in Windows XP

This article provides information on how to view, release, or renew an IP address in Windows XP.
► Solution
1. From the Start menu, click Run
2. The Run dialog box will appear. Type CMD in the Open text box, and then click OK.
3. Select from the following options on the cmd.exe window

To view your current IP configuration, at the command prompt, type: ipconfig and
press Enter.

To release your IP Address, at the command prompt, type ipconfig/release and press
Enter.

To renew your IP Address, at the command prompt, enter ipconfig/renew and press
Enter.
·
To exit click X
