How To: Change Colors, Fonts in WebMail
Summary:
This article provides steps on how to use the HTML editor to change font style, colors, add links, etc.,
when composing a message in WebMail.
Before You Begin
When you first enter the HTML Editor mode, you may notice similar icons on the top half of the menu
bar as are found in most text editors, such as header sizes (under the "p" dropdown) and font style
(under the "Default" dropdown). But there are 14 other icons on the bottom half of the menu bar in the
HTML Editor mode:

Description
This icon allows you to cut a word or sentence from your message.
This icon allows you to copy a word or sentence to another location in your message.
This icon allows you to paste a word or sentence that you copied or cut.
This icon allows you to bold a word or sentence.
This icon allows you to italicize a word or sentence.
This icon allows you to underline a word or sentence.
This icon allows you to strikethrough a word or sentence, as in editing.
This icon allows you to add a superscript, as in an algebraic term.
This icon allows you to add a subscript, as in a footnote.
This icon allows you to add color to your text.
This icon allows you to add a fill (background) color to your message.
This icon allows you to add Internet links to your message.
This icon allows you to add a smiley face to your messages.
This icon allows you to add a signature at the end of your message.

Save a Message

a. Go to the WebMail Inbox window.
b. Click Compose.

Result: The Compose Mail window displays.
c. Select "Compose with Graphical Editor" option in the upper right hand corner of
the Compose Mail window.
Note: When Graphical Editor is chosen, it may take a few seconds for the applet to
load. You will see a coffee cup in the upper left corner of the grey window.
d. In the text field, compose your message.
Note: The HTML Editor allows you to format your email messages using tools
similar to those provided in a word processing application, such as Microsoft Word.
e. Enter an email address in the To:, cc: or bcc: fields or click either the To:, cc: or
bcc: to select an address.
Result: The Addresses pop-up window displays.

Find an address by clicking the alphabet groupings or the arrows.
g. Choose an address by clicking an envelope under the appropriate column
h. When finished, click Close.
Result: The Compose Mail window reappears and the chosen email address shows
up in the appropriate field.
i.
To return to using plain text, click "Compose as Plain Text".
Changing Font Colors

a. Open and compose a message using the Graphical Editor.
b. From the menu bar choose the Change Text Color icon.
Result: A color palette appears.
Note: The HSB and RGB tabs allow more customized color creation.
c. Highlight the text you want to change.
d. Click the color choice in the color palette and click OK.

Changing the Background Color of a Message

a. In the HTML Editor mode, compose a message.
b. Click the Change Fill Color icon.
Result: The Choose Color window appears.
c. Choose a color from the color palette.
Note: Under "Preview" you will see how the color will appear.
d. Click OK.
Result: The background of your message changes color.
Note: To get back to white, choose the white color square in the palette.
Adding Links to a Message

a. In the HTML Editor mode, place your cursor in the message where you want to
insert the link.
b. Click the Insert Link icon.
Result: The Insert Link window displays.
c. Type in the URL you would like to link in the message.
d. Click OK.
