Tips for Finding Home Internet
Choosing a home Internet service can feel overwhelming, especially when there are so many options available. The biggest factors are fast speeds and fair prices, but you also want the customer service of your Internet service provider to be fast and fair, too. Here are some tips for finding the right plan for your home.
First, check to see if Suddenlink offers services in your area. Once you determine you’re eligible for Suddenlink services, it’s time to determine which Internet plan is right for your home and how much Internet speed you need. If your current Internet speed is lagging, that's a sign it's time to find a faster plan. Because it’s not a one-size-fits most world, Suddenlink offers a variety of plans at speeds that support your regular Internet habits. If you're not sure whether your current Internet speed is up to par, run an Internet speed test to see what Internet speed you're actually getting. Use this as a reference to decide how much faster your Internet speed needs to be in order to perform optimally for your household.
Then, it is time to look through what each plan Suddenlink offers. When picking a new plan, it’s important to understand what Internet speed means. Your Internet speed is the capacity of data transferred through a connection in a given amount of time. Each Internet-connected device transfers information back and forth through data. Having a fast Internet is crucial because daily activities use a lot of data. Video calls, streaming videos and music, online gaming, and scrolling through social media require large amounts of data to be transferred quickly to operate smoothly and avoid the dreaded buffering. As we move into more virtual spaces, having a fast Internet connection is becoming a necessity.
Benefits of 1 Gig Internet
For those considering a 1 gig Internet connection, you may be wondering about the benefits. One of the main benefits of gigabit Internet is extremely low latency rates. Gigabit Internet has a diminished latency (aka lag) rate of 5 to 20 milliseconds, which means you’ll never even notice it.
Unlike cable Internet made of copper, cables used for gigabit Internet are glass. Copper wires are delicate and can only withstand about 25 pounds of pressure. While fiber optic cables can support up to eight times the amount of force (100 to 200 pounds).
Additionally, the signal from copper lines gets weaker as it moves further away from the source but fiber optic cables don’t experience signal reductions. They even protect your connection from interferences such as poor weather conditions, fire, moisture, and electronic signals.
The gigabit Internet available today offers upload and download speeds of 1 gigabit per second; 1 gigabit is 100 times faster than the traditional broadband service. For households that are currently using a standard broadband network, it is not uncommon to experience slow Internet speeds. However, 1 gig Internet users don't have to worry about slow speeds interrupting their connection. This high-tech Internet connection supports multiple users and provides bandwidth administration to support all of the activities and needs of your household.
