What is Peacock?
Peacock TV, NBCUniversal’s premiere streaming service, launched in the summer of 2020 and was named after the channel’s logo.
For a while, Netflix and Hulu were the lead streaming services, thanks to some highly-adored programs, like Friends and The Office. As streaming became more main stream and companies realized they should jump on the bandwagon, everyone’s favorite show started gradually being taken down from these popular streaming services and instead got distributed across many of the newer ones. Netflix’s audience started to dissipate once NBC launched its own streaming service, and moved some of the old favorites like The Office. Along with some other NBC classics, like 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation, Peacock offers hundreds of movies, shows, sports, news, and even the WWE Network!
In this article, we investigate all of Peacock’s offerings. Read on to find out more about this streaming service so you can decide if it’s the right fit for your family’s needs!
How much does Peacock cost?
Peacock TV has three tiers of membership. Being free, this tier does not give users access to the entirety of Peacock’s catalogue, but it does offer enough content for you see if you like the service and want to upgrade your membership.
The next tier is Peacock Premium, which costs $4.99 per month. This tier still shows ads but it unlocks the entire catalogue, including movies, TV shows, Peacock-exclusive series, some live sports, next-day airings of current NBC shows, and even WWE programming. The ads shown are limited to only five minutes per hour, so they shouldn’t be too bothersome if you choose to stick with this tiers.
The highest tier is Peacock Premium Plus. This option will cost you $9.99 per month, and basically offers everything that the Premium tier does. The good news is that you will be subjected to less advertisements and be able to watch some of the titles offline on your mobile device.
